Your puppy loves to bite and chew on anything and everything.  This is perfectly normal during the teething process.

However, it must be a behavior that is controlled. Always have a toy or chew bone close by. Don’t ever let a puppy chew on you. All it takes is one family member to allow that behavior and a toddler becomes the puppies favorite chew toy. Stay consistent and keep boundaries.

If your puppy continues to come at you, take yourself away from the situation. Turn your back on them and walk away. They will not want to be alone or loose you.

If the puppy chews something he shouldn’t, say NO in a firm, low voice and then offer an acceptable alternative item to chew on.  Praise your puppy when he chews on an acceptable toy.  Never offer your puppy old socks, shoes, etc. Your puppy cannot differentiate between an old item and your favorite pair of shoes. Check the supply list for chew toy ideas.

FUN FACT: Puppies loose their baby teeth around 4 months old. Don’t be alarmed if you see them in a toy/blanket where they have been chewing.
